Daily Verse

Sunday~
"How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from you commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:9-11

Why do we try to conform God to our will? Live in His word and know true joy.

Monday~
"Make me to know your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old."
Psalm 25:4-6

God reveals the truth of our time and all time to us through Scripture.

Tuesday~
"The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the tstimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple: the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb."
Psalm 19:7-10

All the laws in all the books in all the libraries of the world are but a footnote to the law of God.

Wednesday~
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways ackowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6

To know and understand God comes not through our intellect, but through the wisdom given to us by the grace of God.

Thursday~
"My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart."
Proverbs 3:1-3

Don't measure success by society's standards. Use Christ as your measuring stick.

Friday~
"The the LORD answered Job our of the whirlwind and said: 'Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding, Who determined its measurements - surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? Or who laid its cornerstond...?'"
Job 38:1, 4-6

When we measure God by our limited standards, we attempt to measure the elephant by weighing one strand of its hair.

Saturaday~
"Philip said to him, 'Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you so lon, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father?'"
John 14:8-9

Christ is God made flesh. If you want to know God, you must draw closer to Jesus.

January 3rd

January 3rd, 2002

It was a very chilly morning in SouthWest Minnesota.  Handsome and I had spent the night at his parents home ~in seperate rooms~ and we were getting up fairly early to hit the road.  He was taking me back to Chicago for college and then continuing on to North Carolina, where he lived at the time.  We had already said good-bye to my family and so we were loading up his green Bonneville and then ate breakfast with his parents and got in the car.  As we pulled out of the driveway we turned left, not right like we were supposed to.  He said he wanted to say good-bye to our 'special spot' which is a beautiful bridge over a stream in the midst of a curvy gravel road.  The summer before we had sat there for hours talking about this and that and I do believe this is the place where we finally confessed our love towards eachother...though we already knew it was there!

As we get there he put the car in park and gave me a hand written note, it was lovely.  The way it ended was something about the picture God had painted for his (Handsome's) life and asked me if I would help to complete that picture and become his wife!  When I looked up he had the ring box open (it had its own light in it!) and of course I said YES!

This explained why his mom was crying so much when we left, because though we were a mile away from their house we did not return, we drove all the way to Chicago from Minnesota and I wasn't allowed to tell anyone until I returned to college...sneaky guy!  Of course both our parents already knew it was going to happen because in the gentleman like way that he has always been he asked my Dad's permission to marry me.

But how exciting it is to think that on January 3rd. 2012 I was promised and committed to my husband for 10 years!  We had an interesting relationship, maybe even weird by today's standards, in that once we started dating we really only saw eachother face to face 5 times before we dates, maybe six.  We also never kissed until we said 'I Do' on our wedding day!  Most of our dating relationship was over the phone while I was at college and he lived in the South.  We got to know eachother very well that way.

I pray often that God keeps my children's future spouses pure in the way he kept us pure.  What an amazing gift to be able to give to the person you just married and will spend the rest of your life with...but on the other side, think of all the baggage that each relationship brings into your life.  I was once told that as you give pieces of your heart to people you never get them back.  There are 'holes' in my heart where, unfortunately, I gave those pieces to two other guys.  And it was those holes that caused the most trouble between my handsome and I in the early years of marriage.  Now, of course, I don't give them second thoughts if I hear their names or see pictures of them....but I do believe that those pieces are gone forever, because if you truly love how do you intend to take it back?  If you can take love back it wasn't really love to begin with!

January 3rd, 2002~ The day that I knew God had brought the man of my dreams into my life forever and for always!  Or as one of our favorite artists says, "Forever and Ever, Amen!"  I am still unsure why God thought I was so deserving to receive such an amazing, godly, man....but I am sure thankful EVERY single day that He saw fit to bring Handsome and myself together!  Here is to 10 more amazing years!

Old Married Couple???

So I cracked up the morning of our Anniversary (August 10th 2002)...I handed my wonderful Handsome husband his card and he opened it and without really reading it he ran to the bedroom and returned with mine laughing the entire time! I opened my card to find the exact same card that I had just given him! We even shopped in two different stores and I had mine over a month before he did (but he didn't know that.)

So this makes me wonder...does Hal.Mark just make cards that well that there is one for every occasion with JUST.THE.RIGHT words? Or is 7 years just that much time that we are now so much alike? Either way, it was a great way to start the day. We really didn't celebrate much around that time because it was Sturgis.Rally that week and who wants to go out in that? But we will be attending a Weekend.To.Remember conference in two weeks and we are looking forward to it! Our dear friends Mark&Teresa will be watching the kids from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. THANKS GUYS!

Sunday Evening

Well what a better way to wrap up the evening of our 6th anniversary than playing with our children. Some people may not agree, but we have talked about having children since our honeymoon! And when it looked like we might not have children, we just cannot let them go often...even for a few hours! We are thankful to god for the wonderful blessings he has given us in Ada Grace and Ethan.
Right now they are doing everything Mommy and Daddy are doing. I thought this was just too cute, Daddy was laying on the floor and Ada Grace and Ethan just joined right in! Ada Grace says, "Welax" (relax)Daddy was also giving horsie rides
Ada Grace is really into telling stories, but while doing this she has to get herself into 'story telling position'...
Loving Daddy
Our little beauty
All 4 of us have been seeing the chiropractor for a while now, just once a week to keep us in great shape...at least our backs! Anyway, now AG thinks she needs to be a chiropractor to anyone that will let her!
Resting with Daddy

Telling Daddy another story
Handing out smiles on the way home from Rapid
There was a really nice picture of Ethan sitting in this chair smiling so sweetly, but I thought this one fit his personality a little better!
Our snuggle bug...but only when he is tired~
Playtime with Daddy is always a favorite of both children

My Anniversary Gift

Although Jason was very busy these last couple of weeks, he still managed to find a very nice gift for me! Heehe, actually last weekend when my Mother-In-Law and I were "shopping" downtown (the guys took the stroller AND our purses) we found this wonderful little shop on main that had lots of very neat things in it. They sell signs of all sorts with wonderful little saysing on them. Margaret found one that says "Amazing Grace" in beautiful rich colors with the song notes and words lightly in the background. It was very pretty. I had found one that said "to have and to hold and never let go" that I thought would have made a PERFECT anniversary gift. Well, Saturday Jason's day got very busy (as it usually does) and he asked me if I would go pick up my gift because he was running out of time. I was happy to do it while the kids were napping, but when I got there I found this one, it is taken from the Song of Solomon in the Bible and Jason agreed once I brought it home that he liked this one better!

We had a WONDERFUL anniversary. Of course we went to church first thing in the morning. Jason and I played "Sweet Hour of Prayer" him on the piano and me on the clarinet. We then drove to Rapid to eat at the Olive Garden and went to Bust Buy to find a new camera (I would consider to be part of my gift) and came home to watch Loves Abiding Joy (very good!) and The Notebook. We had already watched The Notebook once, but thought it would be a good one to watch for such an occasion. We played with the kids for while and put them to bed. It really was a great day!

I thank God for the 6 years that He has given to Jason and I and look forward to many MANY more!

Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

Six years ago today I married my best friend, and today that friendship has only become stronger. I thank God for bringing Jason and Myself together. It is amazing how you are so in love when you get married, and you think that you couldn't possibly love anyone more than you love your new husband or wife, and then year after year you realize that you not only love that person more...but in so many different ways for some many different reasons.
I just wanted to share some pictures from our wedding day!

Our first kiss EVER!

What a wonderful day it was. I wish Jason and myself could get married all over again so we could do it all over!

Happy 5th Anniversary!

Sorry Mom, this is the best picture of the ring I can get...you'll have to wait until next week to see it in person!

I am really excited! I finally received my 5th anniversary gift! (Our anniversary was August 10th) Some of you may know that Jason origianally purchased a diamond engagement ring witha gold wedding band and between proposing and the wedding purchased another diamond engagement ring with a diamond wedding band. So I had two wedding sets! I had such a hard time leaving one of the diamonds in the jewelry box (why let a good diamond go to waste!) So for our 5th, Jason told me that we could build a ring out of the two engagement rings plus buy a third diamond!

It was done today! So now I have my "engagement ring" with three stones (a larger one in the middle with two smaller ones on the side) and my gold & diamond wedding band all together! I am spoiled!

Our Get Away

Due to Sturgis Bike Rally and our house not being sold on our anniversary, we didn't get proper time to celebrate. We took this past weekend to do so...it is late on Sunday evening...so I am not going to go into detail.....just give you all something to look at in the morning!

It was also our first time kid free for a year! I wasn't sure about it, but Handsome said it was necessary, we did enjoy ourselves. More tomorrow!

It a BIG one!!!!

5 years ago today, I married Handsome! It is amazing how fast time goes. It is amazing what one day can hold! August 10th 2002 was a very full day, two lives became one, I married my best friend, he and I shared our first kiss (in front of almost 200 of our closest friends and family) , and our children were not there to see it!

Handsome had his brother as his best man, and his other two groomsmen were Farmer and Handsomes sister's husband. I had Handsome's brothers wife as my matron of honor, and my other two bridesmaids were my aunt and Handsome's sister. Our flower girls were NL & AD, our ushers were Byron (friend), Chad Vis(friend), & my cousin.

We are so amazed to be here, and see where the last 5 years have taken us. 5 addresses, 1 house project, 2 children, 2 dogs, 12 vehicles, 2 lawnmowers, adoption, fostering, and many many miles! We love were we are now, but cannot help but wonder what the next 5 years will bring.

Thank you to all who helped us join our lives together 5 years ago, and thank you for the memories that you have helped us create since then! For those of you who we have not seen since August 10th, 2002....get in touch we miss you!
We thank the Lord that He brought Jason & myself together, and that He has given us these 5 wonderful years!
