Daily Verse

Sunday~
"How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from you commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:9-11

Why do we try to conform God to our will? Live in His word and know true joy.

Monday~
"Make me to know your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old."
Psalm 25:4-6

God reveals the truth of our time and all time to us through Scripture.

Tuesday~
"The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the tstimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple: the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb."
Psalm 19:7-10

All the laws in all the books in all the libraries of the world are but a footnote to the law of God.

Wednesday~
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways ackowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6

To know and understand God comes not through our intellect, but through the wisdom given to us by the grace of God.

Thursday~
"My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart."
Proverbs 3:1-3

Don't measure success by society's standards. Use Christ as your measuring stick.

Friday~
"The the LORD answered Job our of the whirlwind and said: 'Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding, Who determined its measurements - surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? Or who laid its cornerstond...?'"
Job 38:1, 4-6

When we measure God by our limited standards, we attempt to measure the elephant by weighing one strand of its hair.

Saturaday~
"Philip said to him, 'Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you so lon, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father?'"
John 14:8-9

Christ is God made flesh. If you want to know God, you must draw closer to Jesus.

My Little Man

So a few weeks ago I did a little Fall shopping for the kiddos, since it has been feeling like fall for a while here now! One of my favorite things that came around was this hat for Sunshine....I do think he rocks it pretty well! He was throwing me pose after pose...enjoy!

"Mommy, I want to git Married"

Handsome and my 7th anniversary was on the 10th of August and for some reason it really was a BIG deal to me this year! I had gotten his gift {he ended up with a second gift~a new wedding ring that doesn't conduct electricity!} way in advance and hoped we would be able to do something special (though due to the time of year and a certain rally, we wouldn't do much at this time)

Anyway, the Saturday before he was helping some people and I was at home with the kids by myself. Boo was taking a long nap and Princess wanted to watch something on 'TB' so I pulled out the old VHS tape of our wedding and we watched. She was completely into it, asking why Grandma was crying and why Aunt C wasn't there. When it was finished I told her to stay put because I wanted to show her something. I returned from my closet with a long white DAVIDS.BRIDAL bag and she knew, though never seeing it before, that it was 'Mommy's git married dress.' How does she know this? Anyway, the minute she laid her eyes on the dress herself she said she wanted to wear it {she has never asked to wear anything of mine before!} this girl is just playing into my need to make this year, this seventh anniversary something SPECIAL like none other. So she put it on, and drown in it, but she put it on! Along with my tiara, my veil, my wedding necklace {that was my Grandmothers' - her namesake}, and I also let her put on my wedding band. She wanted to put on my 'git married shoes' but I couldn't find them....so here are a few of the pictures from this beautiful day. Oh, and I totally didn't plan on having our wedding picture in the background, it just worked out that way. *smile*sigh*

~So Excited~

~She will be a beautiful bride~

~With Mommy's wedding ring~

~Is this not precious or what?~

~Cheese~

~Has she done this before?~

~Too precious for words~

This is something I think that both her and I will treasure forever, and we shall see if she might be as interested to redo this next year?!?

Thankful Thursday

This is a pretty easy day to figure out what to be Thankful for...although there are some things in the works that I would love to scream from the hilltops, but you will have to wait for those! Today I am thankful for family that visit and love! We were blessed last week to have my mom and brothers wife here from Wednesday through Sunday. I was able to take Thursday & Friday off and we had some giggles! It was so wonderful to have them around for an extended weekend...it was great to see them love on our kids and the kids love them back. It was awesome just to have them step into our lives and want to 'hang out' with us!

We did manage to squeeze in some touristy fun...Reptile.Gardens, Rushomore.Cave, Presidential.Wax.Museum, the Keystone.Boardwalk, and we did some shopping and lots of eating! They just might have to come back every year!

Thank you Mom & Seester for stepping into our world for a few days...we loved it!

First.Ice.Cream.Come.EVER!

And she loved it! No drops, no dribbles, and she has asked every day since for an ice cream cone with sprinkles! Too cute!

Father/Son Hike

We finally purchased one of the hiker backpacks for my husband to be able to go hiking with my son. This is the first time they used it and Boo was SO excited to "go in Daddy's bap-pap" They were gone for a little over 3 hours and had a slight run-in with a bunch of rattelers! All in all they came home in one piece and enjoyed their time togheter!

Our...um...LAWYER???

So if you are regular readers here you all know that our attorney and his wife happen to be some of our best friends....we like to get together about every other week or so and play games or watch movies. Well the last week in July they came over and just as they were leaving Princess (who had on a tutu with leggings) tosses the tutu to Mr. Law and here come these pictures!

Does anyone else see a resemblance here, or is it just me?

Aebleskiver Days in Minnesota

We had the opportunity to go back to my Mom & Dad's hometown the last weekend in July for Aebleskiver days...if you have never had an Aebleskiver, shame on you...our almost 3 year old has you beat. While this is not her first (Aunt Wendy made her first for her last year in Chicago!) it was photo worthy! It was a great weekend with family and we even had Aunt Christy watch the kids while we went to a play at the Opera House...we didn't take many pictures, but here is a taste!

Seven Years

Seven years ago I married a man that I thought I knew and knew I loved...today I am married to a man that I am still trying to know and love way more than I did that day!

Happy Anniversary Honey!

Thankful Thursday

I just have to say how thankful I am for my amazing husband again! I have had a little bit of a difficult month and a half or so and he has been my rock that keeps me grounded! There are several things that got 'knocked out of place' by the loss of his Pastorate, our home (the parsonage), people that were special to our children, and a nice set up for daycare all in 40 days and right around Christmas...also the winter that happened to be the coldest on record. I digress...it is THANKFUL Thursday!

But with all of that said, life was kind of turned upside down there for a while and I guess the adrenaline of it all has worn off and I am starting to try to do it in MY strength (never a good plan...Lord please forgive me) and every time I try that the rug gets pulled from beneath me and I am flat on my bum...

Well, Handsome being the wonderful husband that he is hasn't been too pushy about my less than grand attitude in the whole thing and he hasn't even preached too much...he has been what I need and he has helped tremendously around the house since I cannot seem to get anything done during the day (hmmm...might the fact that I have so many kids around have something to do with it?)

I AM VERY THANKFUL FOR MY HUSBAND...I could not imagine a better person to spend the rest of my life with!

Princess' Birthday Photo Shoot

I like to do a mini photo shoot with the kiddos when it comes time to order their Birthday Invitations (even if we are doing a SMALL party like this year...maybe 12 people) but it is a good way to document their growth and have a little fun. This year with the Princess it was tons of fun...I guess 3 is going to be a fun year! Here are just a few of the best ones!

Last picture of the day...getting a little tired!

A silly face from the Princess~

Is she model material or what?

Fun loving little girl!

"Are you kidding me? Not finished yet?"

The Little Lady

I am just amazed at how quickly she went from baby to toddler to this big girl in the picture! It happens too fast!

Scary, but this makes me think Senior Picture!

Daddy's idea for a picture and I think it turned out really cute...he got a REAL smile out of her!

How can you not just giggle with this one? She was trying to be a little bit of a stinker...

Again...another Daddy idea, another one of my favorites! Maybe he should become a photographer!

She was being silly, I asked her for a nice smile and she gave me one...not without doing a silly little dance first!

"Smile"

First picture of the day and my favorite of the whole set...she is just so stinkin' cute!
