Daily Verse

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from you commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:9-11

Why do we try to conform God to our will? Live in His word and know true joy.

"Make me to know your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old."
Psalm 25:4-6

God reveals the truth of our time and all time to us through Scripture.

"The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the tstimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple: the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb."
Psalm 19:7-10

All the laws in all the books in all the libraries of the world are but a footnote to the law of God.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways ackowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6

To know and understand God comes not through our intellect, but through the wisdom given to us by the grace of God.

"My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart."
Proverbs 3:1-3

Don't measure success by society's standards. Use Christ as your measuring stick.

"The the LORD answered Job our of the whirlwind and said: 'Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding, Who determined its measurements - surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? Or who laid its cornerstond...?'"
Job 38:1, 4-6

When we measure God by our limited standards, we attempt to measure the elephant by weighing one strand of its hair.

"Philip said to him, 'Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you so lon, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father?'"
John 14:8-9

Christ is God made flesh. If you want to know God, you must draw closer to Jesus.

Thankful Thursday

So something that I am extremely thankful for these days is how much time we have my husband around! You can see the difference in the kiddos and it just makes for a much happier home-life. Not that we regret the life we lived the first 2 years of our precious baby's life one bit, but now that Daddy is very important to us and getting to have him here most of the evenings in the week is such a blessing...Thank you Lord!

I know that my children are only almost 3, but it seems that so much has happened in their short little lives! We have lived in 3 different 'homes' and had so many changes!

The most recent move was not one that we chose, but looking back it was for the best. Tonight we had the chance to walk back into that house and visit with some a friend from our very first church as a married couple and his new wife. They were staying in our old home, the parsonage, and asked if it were not to awekward that we might come and talk for a while. So we dressed the kiddos (they were in their jammies) and headed out the door at 9:45 pm excited to see our friends, with little time to think of where we were going. I expected my daughter who remembers everything to remember our 'old house' since it was just 7 months ago and she remembers things from before that...but for some strange reason they didn't remember it. Maybe because our things were not in it, or because there was ALOT of stress for most of the time that we lived there....or just because they love their life and home so much now they do not need to think about the past at this point. Either way, I remember...

Everything was pretty much the same, just a few minor things had been done since we moved out 7 months ago (VERY MINOR) the carpet, paint, light fixtures, etc. were all the very same. Which maybe only made it easier to think, to think of the victories our son won while we lived think of the mile stones our children acheived behind those four walls.

It was fun and tormenting all at the same time. I watched my son who was suppose to never walk jump down the stairs into the sunk-in living room tonight, the very stairs that were once a huge hurdle for him to the point they were a barrior. The very stairs that he first climbed after being told he wouldn't. And now tonight, those very stairs he was jumping off!

I saw knicks in the walls where our children's toys (specific incidents) bumped, and spots in the carpet where dirt from my plant was thrown while looking through the windows at us after the kids had locked us out!

I saw the very corner that I cried in just days before we were told we needed to leave, that corner was where I prayed and cried knowing that our time there was limited. The banister where my children used to try to squeeze their little cheeks through and look down over my husband and I on the couch...the details my husband put into the house to make it our home.

Yes, tonight brought back a slew of emotions and thoughts. But with all of those memories (and as far as the family part of it goes ~ happy memories) it still didn't hurt to walk away again. It didn't hurt the first time, nor did it hurt this time. I would guess that we will not be back in that house again...and I would also guess that if the church people really knew we were there they may not be too impressed. But I count it as a blessing from God.

First, we were able to catch up with someone who we (mostly my husband) spent many an hour talking to and I thought was such a great guy for making the decisions that he did. Meet his sweetheart of a wife, and have some great time of fellowship.

But second, God allowed me a 'rewind' button tonight. I was just telling my husband the other day that I didn't remember much about our children as babies. That isn't true, and God helped me see that tonight. The memories are tucked away back in my mind to pop up here and there with a trigger. I can have glimpses of that part of their lives here and there, but I need to enjoy where they are a lock away more memories because we all know they grow up TOO fast!

I wouldn't change anything about our lives now, (except for a little bit larger home for daycare & maybe having a baby or two ;) ) But really those things are up to God, not us, and our life is good. Most nights (5 or 6 a week) we have daddy/husband around where before we were lucky to get him one, our kids are happy, and we own our house. We have learned who are real friends are, and those friends are GREAT!

Thank you Lord, for the glimpse into the past...

Last of the 4th...

4th Pics Princess Edition...

As you can probably see we went to a parade in the morning, and then the kids had their very first carnival rides. Grandpa & Grandma kind of spoiled them and Grandma wanted to let them pick a duck, but they only had 'boat picking' and Boo won a sword and Princess won a camo riffle! She loves it! Crazy girl. After the carnival we went to another towns parade, drove down the canyon, and had a BBQ at home.

4th of July BooBoo addition!

So Blogger is being silly and not letting me do ANYTHING but upload my pictures, can rearrange them and cannot comment between I will do 3 separate of Boo 4th pics, of Princess 4th pics, and one of multi people 4th pics! You will have to make up your own stories to go with them!

Thankful Thursday

So today, with highs in the mid 90's, I am thankful for our air conditioning!
I am thankful for several reasons:
#1 ~ I cannot imagine having 8-15 HOT children fussing and cranky because they are HOT!
#2 ~ I cannot imagine chasing the previously mentioned children around when I would be just as HOT as them!
#3 ~ For some reason dear Boo cannot tolerate heat {not sweating might have something to do with it!} and it makes me happy to know that he is not at risk of passing out...
#4 ~ I tend to get a little cranky when warm, so it is best for everyone around!
#5 ~ It takes the humidity out of the house and all of our stuff doesn't feel 'damp' to the touch!
#6 ~ It keeps the temp consistently 71 or 72 in ALL.THE.TIME. and doors close right because of this!

I know this is, again, a vain 'Thankful Thursday' because many people do have we before...but that is what makes me SO.MUCH.MORE appreciative!

Pool time with Grandma

So Sunday evening I was in the house cleaning up another one of those messes that every parent dreds, but knows will happen at some point in the potty training world! To keep the kids away from the mishap, I asked mom if she would like to take them outside to play in the pools while I cleaned...she snapped LOTS of fun pics, here are a few to share.
Boo looking a little naughty...what is he thinking?Working hard, he fills up the buckets and then 'helps' by watering the plants & trees with what water managed to stay in the containers on the walk over

Princess having fun while throwing water She needed to show Grandma how she could make a big splash
